EYELINER

WHAT IS EYELINER PMU?

Semi-permanent eyeliner adds definition and structure to the eyes. At times, putting on eyeliner can be time consuming and frustrating, especially when you have to focus on whether you will have a good or bad eyeliner day!

For those that have oily skin, eyeliner can often smudge, requiring reapplications throughout the day. With the semi-permanent eyeliner tattoo, you never have to worry about evening out or smudging your eyeliner again! Semi-permanent eyeliner helps the lash line look thicker, fuller, longer, and more luscious.

BASIC EYELINER VS. DESIGN EYELINER

Our technician carefully utilizes a sterilized, thin, needle to apply the eyeliner to the lash line. Depending on your preference, we are able to make the eyeliner thin for a natural look (basic) or thick for a makeup look (design).

Basic Eyeliner

For those who want a thin line on your upper lash-line to enhance your lash appearance for a fuller look while still maintaining an extremely natural appearance.

Design Eyeliner

For those who may want a thicker line on your upper lash-line, or an extension on the inner corners or outer wing (like cat-eye). This service looks much more like makeup, though we still specialize in a natural appearance.

Please visit our Prices page for more information on our rates and a full range of our services..

OUR SPECIALTY

Specializing in custom, natural eyeliner, you will be able to discuss your goals with our technician during your consultation. Everyone has a different idea of what the “perfect” eyeliner look is.

Not only do we keep up with current trends, we excel in customizing eyeliner based on your facial anatomy and your goals! The beauty of eyeliner PMU is that it will eventually fade away completely, making it easy to adjust your shape and design as your facial structure, desires, and trends change over time! Each person has unique skin and fading times may differ from person to person.

If it is your first time receiving eyeliner PMU, most times we will suggest you going for basic eyeliner first, as you can always extend areas over time. We suggest this method so you won’t be shocked from your appearance, and it will give you time to get used to your new look and make adjustments over time! However, we will always do what the client desires unless we feel as if we will be unable to achieve your desired looks.

We make sure to consult with our clients to ensure satisfactory results before proceeding with the cosmetic tattoo.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM eyeliner semi-permanent makeup?

Individuals with busy lifestyles, who tend to wear eyeliner every day, who desire thicker looking lashes and/or those with oily skin that leads to constant smearing and smudging throughout the day.

See Good Candidates / Not Ideal Candidates below for additional information.

WHO IS NOT AN IDEAL CANDIDATE?

CONDITIONS THAT MAY AFFECT THE OUTCOME

We will not refuse you based off of these parameters, however we do give a disclaimer.

  1. Those who sweat and have oily skin and active lifestyles - those with oily skin and enlarged pores tend to fade faster, lines may susceptible to blowing out compared to those with normal/dry skin.

  2. Those who recently received Lasik surgery, must wait at least 6 months post Lasik

  3. Recently had botox / injectables / cosmetic procedure / surgery - please scroll down to Preparations for more info if this applies to you.

  4. Glaucoma

  5. Those who have uneven shaped eyes and are looking for IDENTICAL looking eyeliner PMU. While we strive for the best and most even shapes, we are working with what is given to us and it may be impossible for you to have exactly identical eyeliner.

  6. Cosmetic surgery, wait 3-6 months, consult your doctor before making an appointment

  7. Scar tissue

    • Many people have small scars hidden within their eyebrows without their knowledge. These small patches of discolored or pale skin are usually caused by past accidents, chicken pox or acne and do not absorb the pigments well. Therefore these areas will fade quicker than the rest. Please scroll down to scar tissue for more information.

  8. Oily skin, those with milia on their lashline /eyelids because they do not absorb colours well

  9. Acne - prone skin

  10. Those taking lots of medication - blood thinning medication / vitamins.

    • You must disclose any medical information before your procedure. We have the right to deny any individual based off their medical history if we feel as though your results will be less than desirable.

Individuals who have oily skin, no or close to no hairs, large pores, previous scars, hot body temperature, and live a constantly active lifestyle outdoors will experience more bleeding than others. This causes faster fading and slight blurring of the lines. Since this depends highly on the individual’s skin type and lifestyle it cannot be prevented.

Although results may not be optimal they are better than no eyeliner, but may not be as satisfactory of a result compared to an ideal client. Most studios will reject these candidates, but with a skilled enough technician, we can still work with many of these parameters.

Our goal is to make sure you are happy with your eyeliner! If we feel as though we will be unable to achieve your goals, we will disclose this information to you and recommend that you do not get eyeliner PMU.

Is it painful?

Our eyeliner service is virtually painless! Many of our clients comment on how easy and painless the entire procedure is, especially those who have had eyeliner PMU done before at other studios. In comparison to our microblading service, it is slightly more painful/uncomfortable.

As mentioned in our General FAQ, it depends on the client, but most of our clients experience little to no pain as we apply a gentle but effective topical anesthetic. Because it is a cosmetic tattoo, some individuals will experience some pain or discomfort, but we take many precautions in order to ensure the comfort of our clients!

Will it damage my Eyelash HAIR?

Not at all! Semi-permanent makeup is placed on the outer most layer of your skin. Regular tattoos penetrate your epidermis, which is beneath the outer most layer of your skin. Your hair follicle is even deeper in the dermis and is not affected by these procedures.

MAINTENANCE +
LONGEVITY

It lasts about 6 months - 3 years depending on the individual’s skin type and lifestyle.

Most clients come within 1-2 years to maintain their eyeliner. Those with oily skin and more melanin tend to fade faster and may require more frequent touch ups compared to others.

Special rates for clients returning within
6 months:
$250

2 years: 20%DC (from current price)

Do not compare your results to others! Everyone has extremely unique skin and reacts differently. Just because your family member or friend had certain results, doesn’t mean you will and vice versa.

As you age, your skin chemistry changes as well and your results may change depending on many other outside factors, even if you have received semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos in the past. Just because you heal a certain way one time, doesn’t mean it’s going to be like that next time and vice versa. Unfortunately there is no way to discern this until after you get your cosmetic tattoo, but we do our best to tell you all the potential risks.

For more information on our special rates please visit our Terms + Policy FAQ.

How will I look after my PMU SERVICE?

Depending on the person there may be minimal swelling right after the procedure. This may go on for about 1- 2 days but gradually the swelling will die down and you will be back to your daily activities.

  • If you experience swelling, we recommend using a covered ice pack on your eyes, sitting in an upright position, the night you received your service. You may repeat icing the next morning and up to the following evening. The best times are RIGHT BEFORE going to sleep, and RIGHT AFTER waking up the next morning. The swelling is similar to how your eyes puff up when you cry.

  • Your new color will look darker and more defined for the first 7-10 days.

  • It will get lighter at the end of the week as your eyeliner heals and scabs (if any) fall off.

  • In 4-7 days they start to shrink depending on the person and their skin type.

Although the healing process takes 7-10 days, we recommend giving it a full month for you to fully heal and get settled in.

Do I have to keep my eyes open for the procedure?

No, your eyes are closed during the entire procedure. The technician will continuously apply numbing cream on the procedural area while working slowly and carefully to ensure comfort. Many clients fear that their eyes will open or the needle will go in but this has, and will never happen, due to the stable grip the technician has in order to immobilize the muscles.

Will I be able to drive after?

Yes, you can drive as well continue your normal daily activities.

PREVIOUS TATTOO + COVER UP

I have a previous tattoo / would like to cover up. What are my options?

We specialize in fixing less than desirable results from previous work! It is possible to get eyeliner PMU/semi-permanent makeup over preexisting tattoos. However, the result can depend on the current state and thus requires a more in depth consultation with our technician.

As it is more difficult to match someone else’s previous work or covering up, you would be treated as if you were a first time client with us, including our rates.

Good candidates

We are very selective with whom we pick for those with previous tattoos. If you have lower expectations and wish to improve the area, we can fix it for you. If you’re expecting a complete difference then we will be unable to accept you. Although we can make it better than how It currently may be, we cannot completely transform them as if they were a blank canvas.

Depending on your circumstance, these are your options:

  1. Laser removal, wait 1 month after your last session. The cons with this service are the possibility of damaged skin or burnt eyelashes as a result, so we don’t highly recommend this option. Your results depend on the place and technician in which you receive your laser removal treatment.

  2. If it is smudged/blurred, while we cannot completely cover or make it disappear, we recommend darkening and outlining the waterline. This effect will make your current smudged eyeliner look more like eyeshadow, and the new darkened line will accentuate your eyes and make them look more alert/open.

  3. If it is thin and/or messy we can cover it up as long as we use a darker color and make it thicker and longer than your existing eyeliner.

We cannot stress how important it is to choose your technician wisely. We know how tempting discounts and deals can be… Remember, you are not paying for the service, you are paying for the years of experience of the technician who is giving you the service!

Preparations

It is best to keep the lash area in its natural state as much as possible.

  1. Make sure you do not have any eyelash extensions on when coming in for the PMU service. If you do, make sure to completely remove them 2 days prior to coming in.

  2. If you wear contact lenses, make sure to take them out and wear/bring glasses instead. We would prefer you wear your glasses to the appointment.

  3. You must wait at least 3 months after any surgical procedures

  4. You must wait at least 1 month after receiving your last laser removal treatment

  5. You must wait at least 1 month after receiving UPPER face botox or aesthetic treatments like PDO threadlifts, particularly near the forehead/eye region, or anywhere that will alter your eye shape.

  6. You must wait at least 2 months after receiving UPPER face filler/injectables especially for under-eye treatment.

  7. We recommend getting injectables/botox AFTER your PMU service for optimal results. Please consult with your doctor/aesthetic provider if you are considering getting PMU AFTER your cosmetic treatments instead.

  8. Stop using chemical treatments such as but not limited to AHA’s and retinoids at least 1 week before

  9. No Alcohol 24 hours before

  10. No caffeine on the day of procedure

  11. Stop taking blood thinners (some vitamins, supplements, and aspirin) for at least 1 week prior - if not possible than you can keep taking them. You may bleed more than the average client which may result in your eyeliner fading quicker than others, and the line quality may not be as “crisp” but slightly more blurred/smudged. However, these things can occur regardless of taking vitamins/supplements due to skin type, genetics, lifestyle, and other factors.

  12. Please come in with a fresh, bare face as you will not be able to get water on the procedural area 24 hours post procedure. You can come in with face makeup on, but we prefer a clean, bare face with NO EYE MAKEUP.

aftercare

You may experience minor redness and swelling in the area. This can take about 4-5 days to gradually subside. It takes 7-10 days on average for the PMU service to fully heal and look natural.

If you would like any touch-ups, concerning the shape, or filling in sparse areas (naturally occurring or due to scar tissue, milia), we can address them during the optional, complimentary, touch up visit. We cannot address any issues until after they heal for at least 7-10 days.

We recommend giving it a full month for final results, including after your optional touch up, if you choose to take advantage of this complimentary service. You must wait until they fully heal to see the final result!

  1.  Avoid getting water on the area for the first 24hrs following the procedure.

  2. Once the 24hrs are over, only water is permitted and you should NOT use soap, scrub or exfoliate while washing your face for 1 Week.

  3. For 1 week you must avoid: chemical products including but not limited to makeup, soap, skincare products, sunscreen, etc. on the eyes only.

    • You must also avoid swimming, sauna/direct steaming, and excessive sweating during this period to prevent possible infections.

    • Avoid direct sun and hiking etc for 7-10 days. Walking around is ok but no extra curricular activities in prolonged sun.

  4. Do not forcefully peel/rub or disturb procedural area while healing. Scabbing and peeling is normal. However, please remove any black eye crust with a Q-tip in the inner corners of your eyes only, very gently as to not disturb your new eyeliner PMU.

  5. Do not touch with unclean hands.

  6. We do not recommend the use of eyedrops or medication for 7-10 days.
However, if you experience extreme discomfort, the use of eyedrops is okay as long as it’s only 1-2 times total during your 7-10 days.

  7. Avoid rubbing your eyes

  8. Do not wear contact lenses for 3-4 days post procedure

  9. To prevent or alleviate swelling, place an ice pack wrapped in a clean towel over eyes for 20-30 minutes sitting up RIGHT BEFORE going to bed and RIGHT AFTER waking up the next morning. We do not recommend over usage of this treatment as it can cause sensitivity to your eyes.

  10. We recommend sleeping with your head propped up if you experience swelling for the first couple of days.

  11. For longer lasting results: Avoid getting brightening products such as AHA’s, retinoids, hydroquinone, etc. on your lash area. This includes any kind of healing gel (Read product ingredients before using).

  12. Contact your doctor if you notice any signs of infection. Please consult with your doctor/ health care provider/ dermatologist before any procedures if you have any underlying conditions. See who is not and Ideal candidate for more details.

No down time

Although slight swelling and redness may occur depending on the person. However it will take 7-10 days to heal: depending on the person you may want to take time off if you are uncomfortable walking about with your unhealed eyeliner. Most people resume normal activities with no problem!
