HAIRLINE

WHAT IS HAIRLINE PMU?

Utilizing the art of microblading. we create realistic, hair-mimicking strokes along the hairline. Our technician will study your problem areas and provide a consultation beforehand in order to ensure the best results. You no longer have to worry about hair loss and begin feeling more confident in yourself!

This is a semi-permanent solution and you must get your service touched up to maintain your beautiful results.

OUR SPECIALTY

Specializing in unisex, custom, and extremely natural looking PMU, you will be able to discuss your goals with our technician during your consultation. Everyone has a different idea of what their hairline goal is.

We excel in enhancing your hairline based off your facial anatomy and your goals! The beauty of hairline PMU is that it will eventually fade away completely, making it easy to adjust your shape and design as your hair color, facial structure, desires, and trends change over time!

If it is your first time receiving hairline PMU, most times we will suggest you going for the most natural appearance, even if we have to extend areas, as you can always darken and make the areas appear more “full” over time.

We suggest this method so you won’t be shocked from your appearance, and it will give you time to get used to your new look and make adjustments over time! However, we will always do what the client desires unless we feel as if we will be unable to achieve your desired looks.

We make sure to consult with our clients to ensure satisfactory results before proceeding with the cosmetic tattoo.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM HAIRLINE pmu?

Many people suffer from a receding hairline, bald patches, or loss of hair at all ages and genders. This can often lead to self-consciousness, low self-esteem, and worries about trying to cover up problem areas.

Chemicals found in hair-growing products and hair-covering products often times don’t work and can lead to temporary fixes, but undesirable results. Hair-transplants also have mixed success rates and can create an unnatural frame with your hairline.

However, this can be solved with our Hairline PMU service. We excel in creating extremely natural, hair-like strokes that give you the illusion of a fuller hairline and enhances your beautiful face shape! Small “tweakments” really make a huge difference when it comes to framing your face.

See Good candidates / Not ideal candidates below for additional information.

APPOINTMENT PROCESS

The entire process takes around 2 hours. There is no down time. There is no ointment application necessary for this service. Please follow the instructions carefully so that your hairline can heal beautifully and avoid infection.

Our process is unique to our studio here at Hera Permanent Makeup!
Every studio is different! Even if you have gone to other studios, we ask that you follow our policy and process as we have years of experience. This is the most efficient and effective way for us to create your most desirable outcome!

  1. Paperwork

  2. Design consultation

  3. We specialize in customized natural hairline. Each person has a specially customized shape.

    • Based off your needs and desires/goals, the technician will custom design your hairline PMU for you.

    • Upon approval, we will discuss which color option is better suited for you. Though we recommend your root hair color, we can mix any naturally occurring hair color.

    • For those with lighter hair, we recommend going slightly darker to give you the illusion of definition, as lighter colors tend to fade much faster. It will be easier and more cost efficient for you to go slightly darker than your natural hair color.

    • We design your hairline PMU so you can see the range in area that we will cover! For example, how far we go out depth and width-wise. We will not start until you approve your design.

  4. Application of topical anesthetic

  5. Begin hairline PMU service upon agreement 30 - 50 minutes.

Please be considerate and respectful of our time and profession as it is valuable.

We have the right to refuse anyone service for being more than 10 minutes late without notice, no-shows, and multiple cancellations. Please be considerate of our time and profession.

WHO IS NOT AN IDEAL CANDIDATE?

CONDITIONS THAT MAY AFFECT THE OUTCOME

We will not refuse you based off of these parameters, however we do give a disclaimer.

  1. Those who sweat and have oily skin and active lifestyles - those with oily skin and enlarged pores tend to fade faster, lines may susceptible to blowing out compared to those with normal/dry skin.

  2. No baby hair (For those with no baby hair, we recommend our SMP service rather than hairline.)

  3. Extremely receding hairline

  4. Hair transplants - must wait at least 6 months post your hair-transplant procedure. Please consult your doctor before making an appointment.

  5. Cosmetic surgery - must wait 3 - 6 months. Please consult your doctor before making an appointment

  6. Recently had botox / injectables / cosmetic procedure / surgery - please scroll down to Preparations for more info if this applies to you.

  7. Scar tissue

    • Many people have small scars hidden within their scalp without their knowledge. These small patches of discolored or pale skin are usually caused by past accidents, chicken pox or acne and do not absorb the pigments well. Therefore these areas will fade quicker than the rest. Please scroll down to scar tissue for more information.

  8. Oily skin/scalp

    • Almost all clients with oily skin/scalp will bleed more. If you bleed more, when you scab/heal, the blood also carries the pigment back out, making the pigment and lines more faint and could cause them to slightly blur over time, though it may look great initially post procedure.

  9. Acne - prone skin at your hairline

  10. Those taking lots of medication - blood thinning medication / vitamins.

    • You must disclose any medical information before your procedure. We have the right to deny any individual based off their medical history if we feel as though your results will be less than desirable.

Individuals who have oily skin, no or close to no hairs, large pores, previous scars, hot body temperature, and live a constantly active lifestyle outdoors will experience more bleeding than others. This causes faster fading and slight blurring of the lines. Since this depends highly on the individual’s skin type and lifestyle it cannot be prevented.

Although results may not be optimal they are better than no hairline, but may not be as satisfactory of a result compared to an ideal client. Most studios will reject these candidates, but with a skilled enough technician, we can still work with many of these parameters.

Our goal is to make sure you are happy with your hairline! If we feel as though we will be unable to achieve your goals, we will disclose this information to you and recommend that you do not get hairline PMU.

Does it look like real hair?

Yes! Our highly skilled technician has mastered designing customized hairline PMU that follow your natural hair growth for the most natural and beautiful looking results. There are many varying factors however, and it depends on your skin type. Look above to see if you’re a good candidate.

If you do not meet these parameters then you may have less than optimal results. We will not necessarily deny you based off this reason if we both agree that in your case, it is still better than no hairline!

Please visit our gallery to see just how much of a difference microblading can make to one’s appearance!

Is it painful?

Our hairline service is virtually painless! Many of our clients comment on how easy and painless the entire procedure is, especially those who have had PMU done before at other studios. In comparison to our microblading service, it is slightly more painful/uncomfortable as it covers a wider range.

As mentioned in our General FAQ, it depends on the client, but most of our clients experience little to no pain as we apply a gentle but effective topical anesthetic. Because it is a cosmetic tattoo, some individuals will experience some pain or discomfort, but we take many precautions in order to ensure the comfort of our clients!

Will it damage my HAIR?

Not at all! Semi-permanent makeup is placed on the outer most layer of your skin. Regular tattoos penetrate your epidermis, which is beneath the outer most layer of your skin. Your hair follicle is even deeper in the dermis and is not affected by these procedures.

MAINTENANCE +
LONGEVITY

It helps to leave the procedural area alone as much as possible. This includes not washing or sweating too often. Of course, one cannot avoid washing their hair completely but someone who washes or sweats every other day might be able to preserve the lines a little better than someone who does so every day.

It lasts about 6 months - 2 years depending on the individual’s skin type and lifestyle.

Most clients come within 1-2 years to maintain their hairline. Hairline touch-ups are usually more frequent that eyebrow microblading as the average person shampoos/washes their hair almost every day. This can result in lines fading faster. We recommend using gentle shampoos with no sulfates/parabens for longer lasting results. Please scroll down to Aftercare for more information. Those with oily skin and more active lifestyles tend to fade faster and may require more frequent touch ups compared to others.

Special rates for clients returning within
6 months:
$400 H
2 years:
20% (from current price)

Do not compare your results to others! Everyone has extremely unique skin and reacts differently. Just because your family member or friend had certain results, doesn’t mean you will and vice versa.

As you age, your skin chemistry changes as well and your results may change depending on many other outside factors, even if you have received semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos in the past. Just because you heal a certain way one time, doesn’t mean it’s going to be like that next time and vice versa. Unfortunately there is no way to discern this until after you get your cosmetic tattoo, but we do our best to tell you all the potential risks.

For more information on our special rates please visit our Terms + Policy FAQ.

How will I look after my PMU SERVICE?

You may experience slight discomfort or irritation immediately after your procedure, but it will subside within the next couple of days as you heal. You will not be able to wash your hair for 48 hours so it may look a little greasy.

  • Your new color will look darker and more defined for the first 7-10 days.

  • It will get lighter at the end of the week as your hairline heals and scabs (if any) fall off.

  • In 4-7 days the lines start to shrink depending on the person and their skin type.

Although the healing process takes 7-10 days, we recommend giving it a full month for you to fully heal and get settled in. Please look at Aftercare for more information.

What is the price range?

While basic hairline PMU starts at $900, price varies depending on if it’s an extended area OR how extreme your case is. We have worked with plenty of special case clients, so we recommend consulting with our technician to discuss your options.

**We recommend sending photos in of your hairline area of concern so we can see if it is a treatable area. Hairline service is on the hairline area by your forehead, not the top of your head/scalp/back of the head.

You are more than welcome to send us photos to our email makeup.hera@gmail.com or
phone 213-700-8461, though we will always recommend coming in person for a consultation.

Preparations

It is best to keep the hairline area in its natural state as much as possible.

  1. Please come in with freshly washed hair as you will be unable to wash it for 48 hours post procedure. We recommend washing it the morning of your PMU service

  2. If you permed or dyed your hair, you must wait at least 2 weeks after your hair service

  3. You must wait 3-6 months post receiving your last hair-transplant treatment

  4. You must wait at least 3 months after any surgical procedures

  5. You must wait at least 1 month after receiving laser removal treatment on your scalp/hairline

  6. You must wait at least 1 month after receiving forehead botox

  7. You must wait at least 2 months after receiving filler on your forehead

  8. We recommend getting injectables/botox AFTER your PMU service for optimal results. Please consult with your doctor/aesthetic provider if you are considering getting PMU AFTER your cosmetic treatments instead.

  9. Stop using chemical treatments such as but not limited to AHA’s and retinoids at least 1 week before

  10. No Alcohol 24 hours before

  11. Stop taking blood thinners (some vitamins, supplements, and aspirin) for at least 1 week prior - if not possible than you can keep taking them. You may bleed more than the average client which may result in your microblading fading quicker than others and the line quality may not be as “crispy” but slightly more blurred/smudged. However, these things can occur regardless of taking vitamins/supplements due to skin type, genetics, lifestyle, and other factors.

  12. No caffeine on the day of procedure

aftercare

You may experience minor scabbing and irritation for the next few days. The average healing period is 7-10 days.

As mentioned in Maintenance + Longevity, it helps to leave the procedural area alone as much as possible. This includes not washing or sweating too often. Of course, one cannot avoid washing their hair completely but someone who washes or sweats every other day might be able to preserve the lines a little better than someone who does so every day.

If you would like any touch-ups, concerning the color, shape, or filling in sparse areas (naturally occurring or due to scar tissue), we can address them during the optional, complimentary, touch up visit. We cannot address any issues until after they heal for at least 7-10 days.

We recommend giving it a full month for final results, including after your optional touch up, if you choose to take advantage of this complimentary service. You must wait until they fully heal to see the final result!

  1.  Avoid getting water on the area for the first 48hrs following the procedure.

  2. Once the 48hrs are over, only lightly rinsing with water is permitted and you should NOT use soap, shampoo or any products while washing your hair or hairline area (including skincare) for 1 Week.

  3. For 1 week you must avoid: chemical products including but not limited to soap, shampoo, gel, hairspray, makeup, etc.

    • You must also avoid swimming, sauna/direct steaming, and ANY sweating during this period to prevent possible infections.

    • Avoid direct sun and hiking etc for 7-10 days. Walking around is ok but no extra curricular activities in prolonged sun.

    • Avoid direct contact with hands and any possible bacterial surfaces (including but limited to hats, head band, scarves, etc) to prevent infections.

  4. Do not forcefully peel/rub or disturb procedural area while healing. Scabbing and peeling is normal.

  5. Do not touch with unclean hands.

  6. Avoid getting water on the area for the first 2 full days. After the two days, you can lightly rinse with water but continue to avoid shampooing/scrubbing the procedural area for one week.

  7. For longer lasting results: Avoid getting brightening products such as AHA’s, retinoids, hydroquinone, etc. on your hairline area. This includes any kind of healing gel (Read product ingredients before using).

    • When you wash your hair, be careful of the microbladed area for longer lasting results. Look for gentle shampoos without parabens and sulfates.

  8. Contact your doctor if you notice any signs of infection. Please consult with your doctor/ health care provider/ dermatologist before any procedures if you have any underlying conditions. See who is not and Ideal candidate for more details.

No down time, although slight irritation and redness may occur depending on the person. However it will take 7-10 days to heal: depending on the person you may want to take time off if you are uncomfortable walking about with your unhealed hairline. Most people resume normal activities with no problem!

If you would like to dye your hair or receive chemical hair treatments/services, you must wait 1 week before your appointment as your scalp can become more sensitive due to the chemicals. If you have already dyed your hair, we recommended waiting 2 weeks post procedure. We advise you to wait on dyeing your hair until after your retouch appointment if you choose to take advantage of our optional, complimentary service.
